The Kentucky Highway Cabinet, District 8, interchange lighting project at Exit 46 got underway in earnest Wednesday, September 2, 2015. Elliott Lighting, Somerset, KY, the same company installing lights on Indian Drive on the Adair County Schools Campus, is the contractor for the approximately $500,000 project. The photo was taken from Miss Vicky's Pampered Angus Ranch, and looks out over Holladay Place, where construction of a new Sleep Inn Hotel is underway. The area is scheduled to get a new Hardee's restaurant on Dohoney Trace, next to the Five-Star soon.

Mike Watson: Old Jos. Turner Place on Crocus

2015-09-02 - Inroad, Adair County, KY - Photo from the collection of Mike Watson.
In searching through old photos I found this one of the Old Joseph Turner settlement on Crocus. I took this in the late 1970s or early 1980s, not many years prior to the devastating fire that completely destroyed all evidence, save for the chimneys. Constructed of log, with parts of it going back to the first Turners on the site, it was one of the oldest buildings in that end of the county. A great loss to all, especially the many, many descendants of the Turner clan. - Mike Watson
