Rock Climbing at Red River Gorge, Powell County, KY


2015-09-12 - Powell County, KY - Photo from Commonwealth News Center. Rocktoberfest, an annual climbing event sponsored by the Red River Gorge Climbers’ Coalition, will be held Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, October 9-11, 2015, at Red River Gorge. Rocktoberfest features climbing competitions, climbing clinics, vendor booths, films and music. It is part of this year’s Kentucky Outdoor Adventure Games. This event serves as a fundraiser for the coalition. Funds are used to purchase land for recreational use. The Rocktoberfest headquarters will be located near the rest area at Exit 33 off the Mountain Parkway at Slade, Pop. 303. 2Design Firepit will be raffled at 7-Springs Sorghum Festival

"This Firepit by 2Design's is being raffled off to support the Seven Springs Sorghum Festival and it's charities. The American Red Cross, Salvation Army, and Trooper Island will each receive 25% of the proceeds from this raffle. 25% will go to 2Design's Firepit for the cost of the item. There will be 400 tickets sold for $10 each. When the last ticket is sold the drawing will be held. He will co-star with his son, Mr. Jake Hill in a re-enactment from the life of Col. William Casey. Mr. Jake Hill, will play Col. Casey's son. The Hills are favorites in re-enactments throughout the Commonwealth.
