Begley Chapel Christmas in October?
2015-10-06 - From N Reed Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. It's pretty obvious that this is a depth of field illusion, but at first glance the crowns of Begley Chapel appeared to be decorated with mistletoe, as if for Christmas in October. The tree with the mistletoe is actually one-half block away, below the J.L. Turner Building. Photo taken after attending City Council meeting, Monday, 5 October 2015. - EW

Green River Lake, in the distance at future convention center site
2015-10-06 - Griffin Springs Road, Campbellsville, KY (Greater Coburg) - Photo by Jason Mardis, Aerial Concepts (c) 270-250-1867 drone photo . Shooting at a low altitude, from a distance, Aerial Concepts drone pilot/photographer Jason Mardis was able to get a big part of a site being considered by developers for a new multi-county convention center mentioned by Adair County Judge Executive Michael L. Stephens in recent public meetings. The brown area was in soybeans this year. The lone tower, in the right center of the photo is Connie Stotts' deer stand, from which the blue waters of Green River Lake can only be imagined. Judge Stephens sees the development as an obvious one to increase traffic to Green River Lake. He sees it as augmenting, not taking away from any Green River Lake destination point. It will be, if it all works out, the most convenient access to Green River Lake from population centers in Louisville, Lexington, and for Ohioans. The project idea is only one of many bursting forth since the announcement of the Heartland Parkway construction from the Bypass in Columbia to the Adair-Taylor County line at Coburg.

Square Crow in likeness of ACCV circulation director - #1
2015-10-06 - 300 Quadrant Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. At first guess, anyone in furthest reaches of Adair County would say "Billy Neat," for the man who delivers the papers every Wednesday to sales points throughout the county, for this Square Crow. And they would be right. His name is "Billy," Mindy Yarberry, right of the Adair County Community Voice said yesterday, Monday, October 5, 2015, when this photo was taken. The Voice office is just a couple of storefronts away on the Well Walk off the Square. The imagination which has gone into the over three dozen Square Crows has been the talk of the town since they were put up Monday morning. - EW

Aerial View, Coburg, KY - I
2015-10-06 - Coburg, KY - Photo by Jason Mardis, Aerial Concepts (c) 270-250-1867 drone photo . Jason Mardis of Aerial Concepts captured this view of Coburg, KY, looking south along KY 55 from Taylor County into Adair. The area could be in for some dramatic growth with the start of the first phase of the Heartland Parkway starting (or ending) depending on perspective, here. Some big items being promoted, already, especially by Adair County Judge Executive Mike Stephens, include a tri-county convention center for Taylor, Adair, and Green Counties. Additionally, the area continues to be looked at for a new industrial park, with the possibility of fairgrounds here, too. - CM

2015-10-05 - Coppage Road, Eastern Adair County, KY - Photo by Tia White. I hope you can see how happy Jack is to be home! I can't thank everyone enough for all you have done! So many shares, posts, messages, and calls and thanks to that Jack was located and we got him home safely. I have learned there is a lot of bad things and people out there through this, but thankfully there are still a lot of good, kind, honest, and truthful people too. God bless each of the good people that helped us. Thank you from our family. - TIA WHITE. Paired photo: See how saga began:Family's super friendly dog missing from Coppage RD home
