First & Farmers Squarecrows display: Flowers & McFarland - #11

2015-10-06 - First & Farmers National Bank, Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener.
Rhonda Redmon, above, and Mandy Cross, out of frame at time of photo, had far too much fun creating the the bank's Squarecrow entry, which features - you guessed it, exact likenessess of Sarah Flowers and Jason McFarland. The photo was taken Monday morning, just as Squarecrow mania hit Columbia. It's already paying off for Downtown, Rhonda Redmon said. "Last night there were as many as 50 people walking the Square just enjoying the displays."

Delightful Squarecrow entry: Dollhouse Day Care - #24

2015-10-06 - Front lawn, Historic Adair County Courthouse, 500 Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener.
Dollhouse Daycare artists created this delightful scene on the Historic Courthouse lawn eleven or so figures. (For literal countarians, at least one figure is out of frame, but we need your help to get the crowd estimate above a precise number for history's sake.) Don't want to venture where the display will come in in the People's Choice awards, but CM will go on record betting that it will be a real kid-pleaser.

2015-10-06 - Public Square at Jamestown Street entrance, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener.
Pam Spires of Pam's Primitives is responsible for this artistic creation, "Harvest Thyme," which welcomes "Olde Crows," - one would suppose to sit a spell on the old street light pedestal or along the wall of the Adair County Garden Club maintained flower bed.

A sign of Christmas - but not so much of food

2015-10-06 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener.
About the only remotely commercial use of one of these pine cones may be as a decoration. While pine nut lovers may look for local nuts as a source of edible pine nuts, according to the Wikipedia entry: Pine Nuts doesn't leave much room for optimism in that department. May be best to leave these to the animals. (A note: Solution for local production of Pine Nuts might be to build a 6,000 foot mountain along Weed Ridge, which is already one-fifth high enough.)
