Scenic Adair Co., KY: Misty evening over Gradyville, KY

2015-10-10 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener.
Even on a rainy early fall afternoon, you can see forever from Jones Chapel Road, looking, above, over Gradyville, past Big Creek over low hills and rising fog, toward the cell tower at Weed, KY, and maybe, just maybe almost plum nelly to Metcalfe County. - CM

Trilby & Sonny Vance did their best to pose an American Gothic picture, without a pitchfork. Flowers 'n Things Square Crow

2015-10-10 - Flowers n Things, 310 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener.
Betty Smith, owner of Flowers 'n Things, 310 Campbellsville, KY, finally got this Squarecrow to settle down and post at her shop. It's been up overnight, and put the frighteners on a bunch of folks who saw her last night. (Note: I had fluff in my ear when Ellen Zornes revealed the presence of this Squarecrow - not sure whether it has a number or not, whether it is eligible for voting on a printed ballot, or if a write-in would be acceptable. Direct voting procedures regulations to the "HQ" the Retired Teachers Booth in front of First & Farmers National Bank, 224 Public Square, Columbia, KY) - EW

Rick Wilson: Making it easier to be an organ donor

2015-10-10 - By the Fountain Plaza, Downtown Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener.
Rick Wilson is adding more and more Adair County organ donors by making it easier for drivers to get the information they need to help insure that their own children, grandchildren, mothers, fathers, and grands lives are protected should an organ be essential to save those dear lives. Mr. Wilson who is retired after an illustrious career in public service, now provides his own event tent and goes where the people are. He recently added a fine number of new organ donors at Revisit Knifley. While the impetus has been building, he wants to see Adair County a leader in numbers of organ donors and, as a competitive Adair Countian, he'd like to see Adair County 1st, also, among percentage of Organ Donors in Kentucky. We're now 91st. Today, Saturday, October 10, 2015, will be a great day to join up and then speak up. Above, he's listening to a potential new organ donor on opening night of Downtown Days, Friday, October 9, 2015. - ED WAGGENER
