The Smiths now live in Lenuel's homeland on Smith's Ridge, moving from Fairplay, KY, a few years ago. Both said today had been a perfect one in Columbia - one for meeting old friends and enjoying the entertainment and, for them, food at the downtown Mexican Restaurant. Wid Harris, left, sponsored Downtown Days 5 K runners, Anna Evans, a seventh grader at Adair County Middle School, and her brother Alex Evans. Alex won Overall 1st place, with a 20 minutes 5 seconds, fastest of all runners.. Anna won Third Overall with a time of 26 minutes 25 Seconds and first in her age group. The runners are pictured with their father, Marc Evans, who is an employee of the Adair County Regional Jail. Jeremy Coomer fulfills civic duty: Votes in Squarecrow poll 2015-10-10 - In front of First & Farmers National Bank, Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo Ellen Zornes. There's been a heavy turnout of voters at the "poll" today, the Adair County Retired Teachers booth in front of the F&FNB. Earlier in the day, Ellen Zornes had already counted over 60 voters who had turned out to help their favorite Squarecrow win the prestigious People's Choice Award and the $25 jackpot which goes with the honor. We don't have an ongoing count, but Jeremy Coomer will no doubt be followed by vast numbers before the polls close at 6pmCT, this evening, and the tabulation begins. This should take long.
