Lauren McQuaide, student member of the Adair County School Board, spoke while holding the text score handout provided by Adair County Schools Academic Dean Phyllis Curry. McQuaide spoke just a few minutes, but when she did, she provided important insight. She told the board how disappointed many of her friends in the arts were when an Arts & Humanities Career Pathway was peremptorily yanked by the new state commissioner of education just as Adair County High School was ready to implement the program. It's been an upside down growing season, she said, as early tomatoes got too much rain, and she wasn't at the market so much as usual. This morning, she has a not-unlimited supply of all kinds of tomatoes - big and little, red, yellow and green. For fried green tomato lovers, there's an ample supply, unusual for this time of year. (Don't worry about me, I got mine just after 6amCT). She's also plenty of traditional fall items: Pumpkins and Decorative corn, and white and red potatoes in all sizes, and white and red sweet potatoes in various sizes, , green onions, and mixed greens.
