Great trees of Adair County: Elbow tree on Cane Valley Mill Road 2015-11-04 - Near Adair/Green County line - Photo by Linda Waggener, CM photo. For many years now, perhaps with two-three dozen passings or more we've watched for the "Elbow" or "Biceps" tree we call it, but had thought it was gone. Today, Linda had a Eureka moment when she spotted it. Over the years, it seems to have gotten bigger in it's horrizontal trunk, and is now lower to the ground. When we first saw it three or four decades ago, it seems, in memory, that the horizontal length was several feet above ground. Now, there must be only inches. Help with bee ID and relo needed 2015-11-04 - Photo By Linda Waggener. Calling on Columbiamagazine.com readers for help with identification and relocation of these bees or Yellow Jackets. They have found a clever place to build their home in the space between two boards in this building where they are not wanted. Two cans of commercial high pressure spray have not daunted them one bit as it only hits the boards and not the hive inside. If you blow the photo up you can see the face of the bee flying toward the camera with an expression of confidence that no human will intimidate the bee.
