The themed red roofs and white buildings seen from the square in Jamestown, KY are a compelling invitation to travel KY 619, one of Kentucky's most beautiful byways, especially the first miles. Continuing KY 619 brings one back past the mammoth Stephens Pipe & Steel complex and back to US 127 in Russell Springs.

While visiting the Pellyton Cemetery this week, we took a shortcut via Drake Road back to KY 206 and were stopped by the beauty of this scene, with the beautiful white homestead in the valley, and the house with a Smoky's panorama on the hilltop. - Ed & Linda

Union Soldier Levi Benjamin Clark from Mt. Carmel area

Among Larry Clark's favorite old photos is this one of his great grandfather, Levi D. Clark, in his Union Army uniform during the Civil War era. Levi Clark was buried in the old Mt. Carmel Cemetery, near Mt. Carmel picnic area and ramp on Green River Lake. His body was re-interred at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery beside Mt. Carmel Church when Green River Lake was impounded.
