I know there's a simple explanation. But it was a dark and dreary Thanksgiving evening, Thursday November 26, 2015, when we returned to Columbia after visiting Russell and Casey Counties, coming home via KY 206 with a saunter around Pellyton. As we pulled up to the light on fairground Street, We saw, a group of people - maybe 6 or 8, come forward toward the crest of the hill in the cemetery, appear to observe the terrain below, then in seconds or minutes, recede. By the time I got my cellphone, they were disappearing into the background. It was an unearthly sight, and would have been frightening for womenfolk, small children, and tiny nuisance dogs. In fact, it even gave your fearless scribe a bit of the willies. However, I always look for a rational explanation, but haven't found the answer yet. I wondered if it were a family, looking at a grave site, though surely they would have chosen more excellent weather. Then we both wondered if it were a law enforcement expeditionary or reconstruction force, perhaps reviewing a recent jail escape and capture in that very same area. I'm an eye witness, but the cell phone shot is so poor I can't look at the silhouettes and tell if I captured any of the scene or not. It is easy to conjure up anything. Even horsemen, a man going for a pistol, or the grim reaper. As one of the grandchildren used to say, it was sure 'pooky. It'll set my acute Phasmophobia at ease for a little while to know. Robin Williams and the staff of the Katie Murrell Library at Lindsey Wilson College won the "Day of the Dead" contest recently. In addition to Williams, there were several entries of famous nurses, artists, writers, and leaders in the competition across the campus. The library staff and their work study student won $50.
