Mackie Jo Pennington had her shop on the square open for Christmas in Columbia. She is pictured here with her host daughter, Lindsey Wilson College student Kaitlin Allan from Canada who will graduate at the upcoming commencement. They welcomed good friend Sherry Hancock as they served coffee and hot chocolate during the annual event before the parade.

Coomer was standing in line to visit Santa and Mrs. Claus Saturday afternoon at the LWC Christmas Carnival. A total of 617 area residents attended the fifth-annual carnival, held in the Doris and Bob Holloway Health & Wellness Center. In addition to a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, the carnival included games and activities for children, and local vendors also had booths of their wares. The annual event is planned, organized and operated by students in LWC’s recreation, tourism and sport management program as well as the student staff of the Holloway Health & Wellness Center. - Duane Bonifer

The snowman stick can be used to measure snow accumulation. A total of 617 area residents attended the fifth-annual LWC Christmas Carnival, held in the Doris and Bob Holloway Health & Wellness Center.
