Christmas 2015: Landmark in transition, a moment in art 2015-12-25 - Green River House, 100 block S Main, Greensburg, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener. The Green River House is a property in transition, with plans for a 10 room hotel, a 75 seat restaurnat, and a Tavern. It's in one of the two precincts in Greensburg where alcoholic beverages are legal now. The building is owned by Col. Bill & Justine Landrum, Mimi Moore, and of Stonehammer Properties, LLC. Maybe most are anxious for the building's promise, this is Greensburg, where visual arts are a major attraction. Yesterday, on Christmas Eve, it offered a fascinating study in what was and what is, what is real and what is real only in suggested imaginings. The lower windows are - it takes a second guess - art. The two doors on the right are real, and we think the left one is, too. The number "1001" at the bottom of the door is not a number at all - it's a reflection from the Woodson Lewis Building across the street on South Main. On Christmas Eve, Greensburg was very, very busy. It was probably not due just to the eye candy, though there's plenty of that, but also to the Downtown's reputation as a destination a wide array of eateries - at least 10 to a dozen within walking distance of any downtown parking place. - EW Comments? | Click here to share, print, or bookmark this photo.
