Mike Keltner, Adair County Emergency Director, has just sent this updated photo which predicts more snow than previously forecast for area. Almost all of Taylor, and the northern two thirds of Green and the northern half of CaseyCounty are in a band forecast to get over one foot of snow, Metcalfe, the northern hills of Cumberland County, and the western portion of Russell should get 6-8" of snow. Birds of Kentucky: Epicurean Kentucky musings at murmuration 2016-01-22 - Montgomery Street/Frazier Avenue, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. They were reluctant to disperse, this murmuration of starlings, congregating on prayer meeting night righteously taking the road. There appears by guesstimate to be exactly enough here for three good Epicurean Blackbird Pies, at two per. Believe or not, back in the 1930's, the USDA promoted the consumption of Starlings as well as English Sparrows as a means of controlling the nuisance birds, according to the entry on starlings in Wikipedia. For those who haven't the starling hunting skills to get the requisite four and twenty for a pie, there's a recipe calling for 12 Starling Breasts at American Airgunner on this webpage: Americanairgunner.com/Wildbird. It's the Greater Gadberry equivalent of the Lincoln Bridge, though officially it has no name. Charles Marshburn calls it his "Ugly Bridge," because it made the list of bridges deemed to be in need of replacement. Old timers rightfully call it the Rollen Coomer Bridge after the long time resident of the road. It can be seen over yonder, dead center in the photo, under the giant Eastern Red Cedar, at the Johnson School Road 'Mountain,' fronting on John School Road.
