GM Lenny Stone describes possible problem at water plant

Columbia-Adair Utilities District General Manager Lenny Stone described a bearing as bigger than a golf ball, smaller than a softball, to describe a possible diagnosis on the settling basin problem at the utilities water plant. Commissioners present, Mike Newton, Barry Stotts, David Jones, and Wid Harris voted unanimously, 4-0, to hire local company Fabco, to go into the huge machine, check the bearings and analyze the problem. Fabco has agreed to do the diagnosis for a maximum of $5,000, and if it the repair is within their capability to complete the work with only the cost of materials added. GM Stone and the commissioners agreed that this should be a first step, rather than call in outside experts whose initial costs might be a minimum of $20-30,000. Third-graders in Adrienne Hash's art classes recently drew Native American shields on paper plates and then learned how to shade and tint using watercolors.
