Columbia city pool being filled in 2016-04-15 - Fairgrounds Street, Columbia KY - Photo By Linda Waggener. The city pool, closed to the public for several years now, is being filled in this week. The Columbia City Gas Department is doing the work with stone provided free by Burton Stone and Ready Mix according to Mayor Curtis Hardwick. In the photo Ronald Cook is driving the mini track hoe at the ten-foot depth and Steven Baker is driving the backhoe after dump truck drivers Tim Smith and Shane Gaskins unload the fill dirt. New window installation in the building formerly known as the Jeffries Building, now the Lindsey Wilson College building, on the square in Columbia offers hope that more good things are to come for the historic county seat of Adair. The final window installation is pictured above -- looking so good. Notice, however, on the building corner to the right there's still a major landmark on the opposite corner of Jamestown Street that is in serious disrepair and in need of a plan.
