Charles Wade of Shrout, Tate, Wilson, recommended the low bid of Epperson Electric of Somerset, KY, to replace the boiler at Adair County High School. The Epperson bid was for $74,840. Only two bids were received. The other was from Central HVAC for $89,500. The work will start his week, Mr. Wade said, and will not interfere with the system nor with school activities. The system will be completed following the end of the spring semester. The vote to accept the low bid was 4-0, on a motion by Mike Harris (Div 5) with a second by Lisa Burton (3), with Board Chairman Floyd Burton (4) and Vice Chair Quin Lasley (2) joining in the affirmative. in the Terry Harvey (1) arrived after this vote was taken. A highlight of the Thursday, April 21, 2016 regular session of the Adair County Board of Education was the recognition of 5th Grader Trayton Stargel for winning the AARP Middle Cumberland Grandparent Essay Contest, and the announcement that Trayton's essay was a very close second place winner in the State AARP Grandparent Essay Contest. His grandfather, David Keith is beside him along with Teresa Roy, who spoke at during the segment. Landmark Trees of Adair Co., KY: Magnificent beech, Tabor 2016-04-22 - Tabor Community Church, 1477 Fairplay Road, Columbia KY - Photo by Linda Waggener. Tabor Community Church on Scenic KY Highway 704, is surrounded by pleasing countryside that it's often taken in as a whole, without noting the the trees in the forest. However, this big beech, at the edge of the little country church's parking lot, couldn't be ignored.
