Before you can read the white letters on the green sign designating it Jones Ridge Road you see the little family cemetery halfway up on the side of a hill. Even though big beautiful hills are numerous in Cumberland County, there are no mountains and the cemetery reminds us of Eastern Kentucky where there is little flat land and mountainside cemeteries are necessities. The answer to Mystery Branch Road is "Beech Branch Road," the continuation of Jones Ridge Road which connects with KY 704. Chris Dial, the first person to correctly identify the location of Beech Branch Road suggests an alternate route from KY 61, especially from the north. "Take Smith's Branch Road to Pine Branch Road and then onto Pine Ridge Road. It leads to Jones Ridge Road." Five year old Paying It Forward 2016-04-29 - Supermarket, Columbia, KY - Photo by Proud Mom . This very anonymous participant in Adair County (with extremely proud parents) grasped the concept of the Pay It Forward day rather quickly. It was a simple trip to the grocery to purchase non-perishables for J.O.Y. Ministries food pantry. It was his mission to find "good food for kids that are hungry". So, added to the typical vegetable canned goods in the cart, he threw in spaghetti and meatballs and macaroni and cheese. Pay It Forward Day was just that, ONE day...but it doesn't have to be. We can do good 365 days a year - in big ways or small, costly gestures or completely free. Whether witnessing or receiving it human beings are desperate to know that goodness still exists.
