Reptiles of KY: Eastern hognose snake; maybe not 2016-04-30 . Larry Clark writes: "I believe this is a eastern hognose snake, but maybe not . . . I caught one last year that looked similar to this one. After the blowing and hissing it rolled over on its back and played dead. The old timers called them blowing vipers." Best we can tell, after running into and consulting with serpentologist Steve Sanders of Damron's Creek Road, Eunice, Adair County, KY, we believe you've nailed the species. Sanders was at his office in McDonald's in Russell Springs. He took one look at the picture and said "Hognose viper. Don't even have to ask Ryan Beard. That's what it is." For those having trouble finding the snake, it's hanging upside down in the center of the picture. It is kindly long, and on careful inspection, one can see its face. CHS Academic Team members deliver stuffed animals to children 2016-04-30 - Photo by Calen McKinney, Public Information Officer, CIS. Campbellsville High School Academic Team members recently delivered stuffed elephants to children at Taylor Regional Hospital. Earlier in the school year, the team hosted a fundraiser by selling the elephants. Those purchasing them could choose to receive them or donate them to children receiving treatment at the hospital. On Friday, April 29, students took 11 elephants to children having surgery at TRH. Jessica Bradshaw is the CHS Academic Team coach.
