Zornes stressed Chamber membership renewal, now underway, and reminded the gathering of the Columbia/Adair County Chamber of Commerce's upcoming Golf Tournament, to be held at The Pines at Lindsey Wilson, Thursday, May 19, 2016, starting at 1pmCT. The event was sponsored by T.J. Health Columbia, at which TJHC CEO Bud Wethington gave an analysis of the bright future and opportunities, sobered by the challenges the local hospital still faces. He said, and Westlake CEO Neal Gold concurred, that T.J. has invested heavily, already, in the community, that now, the only limiting factor is reciprocal support from the community. Mr. Wethington outlined the partnership he sees for the the parent organization and the people of Adair County, and outlined the economic impact T.J. will have on the Adair County economy, which, he said, can really prosper only with the support of the people of Adair County. Earlier in the day, a highly successful open house and Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting drew a large, enthusiastic crowd which was indicative of how the partnership is working now. Melissa Moore and Albert Cundiff listened carefully as Sunday Sales were discussed in last night's Adair Fiscal Court meeting. The first reading for Adair County's Alcoholic Beverage Sales Ordinance does not have Sunday sales, which Moore, the owner of A & M Trading post in Coburg, favors. During the meeting, John Thomas, owner of Anderson's Pizza, addressed the issue, saying he needs Sunday sales for his restaurant. He said he thinks the ABC ordinance for the City of Columbia will include Sunday sales. Thomas said that if the county should, on final reading, omit Sunday sales, he will asked to be annexed into the City, a maneuver also available to any business in the county.
