Students work for Smoke Free Adair Co. ordinance

100 signers at Home & Garden Expo - Students from Adair County High School are seeking support for a smoke free ordinance for Adair County. Above, from left: Michaela Walker, Taylor Lawhorn & Makayla Smith. Students had a booth at The Extension Home & Garden Expo to share information & gain support with 100 postcards signed in support. An ordinance would prevent smoking in enclosed public places & enclosed places of employment. Private homes & outside public areas would not be included. Students are wearing shirts they designed. Smoke Free Communities are good for workers health, business and the economy. If you would like to help make Adair County healthier contact Jelaine Harlow at 270-384-2286.

Gas Metal Arc Welding Class at Adair County High School

Karl Watson, Associate Professor of Welding at Somerset Community College, provides instruction during a Gas Metal Arc Welding class at the Adair County Vocation Agriculture Shop. Classes were also taught by Scott Stringer, Instructional Specialist of Welding at Somerset Community College. SCC’s Workforce Solutions department is now enrolling for a new cohort of students to begin the Gas Metal Arc Welding program this fall. Interested students should enroll now. - Allison Horseman

Heavy Drama at Plunkrock House Theater

Hailey produced, directed, and acted in a dark drama at Plunk Rock this past Sunday. It was about an innocent your girl gone bad, committing a home invasion felony; trespassing in chairs other than her own, stealing porridge hot, cold and just right; and vandalizing sleeping furniture without permission of the rightful owners. It was pretty scary stuff, but the young actress, with the help of her stage manager Mema, a veteran of the Metcalfe County High School stage, pulled it off with some Hitchcock-esque humor. All three of the audience especially Granddad, gave rave reviews. - Granddad.
