Dog of the Day - Not-for-sale-at-any-price: Lu the Wonder Dog 2016-06-10 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Lu has learned a lot of new tricks. She's supertrained to obey dozens of spoken commands. She's pickup truck and house broken. And she's trained to ask before she does. Above, she'd just made a compelling argument to chew on her master's shoe and was about to win the case with her closing argument, but the ruling went against her. Lu is a Queensland Heeler, dogs known for their exceptional intelligence. It's uncanny to watch Lu and Junior Stotts carry on complex conversations. The little dog has a vertical leap high enough to have gotten the tip on Haskin Rowe, and can stand on two paws like a meercat. A testament to how well she behaves is that there are no teeth marks on this shoe. Columbia/Adair Utilities District GM Lenny Stone diagrammed options available to solve problems with water pressure on KY 704/Fairplay Road, Columbia, KY. On a 5-1 vote, with a motion by Commissioner Mike Newton, with a second by Commissioner Barry Stotts to opt for a long range solution to water pressure problems on KY 704, dropping a proposal by Bell Engineering to build an Interconnector line from the Walmart Water Tower to the intersection of KY 704 & Hwy 55 South Road in favor a new 6" line from the Sparksville Water Tower to Chance to Fairplay Road. The latter proposal will satisfy water needs for the fast growing South Adair County area as well as for new chicken barns planned in the area. The cost was estimated at slightly over two times the temporary, so-called "band-aid" KY 704 Interconnector planned by Bell Engineering. Above studying the options as presented by GM Stone are, clockwise from right, Commissioners Newton, David Jones, Chairman Wid Harris, (Stone, standing), and Commissioner Barry Stotts. Commisioner Junior Brown, attending his first meeting as a member of the board, is out of frame. All the commissioners voted for the long range solution.
