Epicurean Kentuckian: Somewhat Mediterranean Squash

Linda picked up some Yellow squash, green onions, and cucumbers this morning at the Farmers Market. The squash was cut lengthwise, cooked on high heat on an iron skillet till deep brown on each side with just a few slices of the white of green onions to sweeten, and the whole thing was garnished with a salad of green onions on more raw onion. More olive oil was added, and the only other seasoning was real butter and sea salt. Can't wait until fresh red ripe Adair County tomatoes come in to dice to go along with the green onion and circles of white onion - for taste and a better picture. - EW

LWC Water Tower looks like a new ride at the county fair

Looks much like a new ride for the county fair, but it’s really just the LWC water tower getting ready for sand blasting and a new paint job. I did not get a chance to talk with the ride operator today, but I believe it’s about ready to hoist the curtains so it can be sand blasted. It’s gotta be hot working up there. -- GK

Small but mighty fine workers - Nathan & John Hunter Ballou, were two of the younger "Angels in Service" packing meals for delivery in Haiti and Afghanistan at the Columbia Christian Church on Saturday, June 11, 2016, when 1,580 meals were packaged in 1.5 hours.
