According to the The Wikipedia entry at Hibiscus_syriacus says the flower is also called Syrian Ketmia, rose mallow and St. Joseph's Rod, Korean Rose - it is South Korea's National Flower. And, of course, it's commonly called Mock Rose of Sharon. By any name, the flowers were warm welcomers on Friday, July 1, 2016 on East Fortune Street, were this one was photographed hosting at least three critters and elsewhere around town. - EW.
