Maple Tree in bloom? Is there a forester in the house 2016-07-06 - Jamestown Hill, Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com photo. Many are commenting on the appearance of this wonderful tree on Jamestown Hill. Leaves turned upside down give in a seemingly regular/random ratio the look of blossoms, every bit as prounounced as the Kentucky Tulip tree gives from a distance. We hadn't noticed the phenomenon anywhere else. Perhaps a forester is in the house and can give an account. (And also correct us if the tree is not a maple. When we see the tree, it brings back memories from over 40 years ago, when the proudest Mom there ever was took her newborn son out to play on a blanket in the afternoons, and the baby's fascination with every detail of everything going on in his world was the grandest reward one could hope for. Picture pink roses climbing a freestone masonry wall and that perfect picture, for us is complete. The sight of straight rows of July 4th burley tobacco still elicits wonderful memories for many Adair Countians. Nobody grows it better than South Central Kentuckians. Time was, small crops were everywhere here, even on town farms, in the city limits. Many can remember a crop on Heskamp Street, another across the road on the Ernest Conover place. Getting ready for arrival of Adair students - in 37 days 2016-07-06 - Indian Drive, Adair Co. School Campus, Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com (c). New pavement is being laid on Indian Drive. Yesterday evening evidence of the progress could be seen from behind a parked roller. Paving is complete around the front entrance loop and on one lane, a first layer of pavement is on another, and the middle lane is yet to be started. The photo was taken Tuesday evening, June 5, 2016. As of Tuesday morning, June 6, there are 37 more days until the start of school. When students arrive, they will see a campus almost magically transformed from the close of school in May 2016. - EW/LW. (Note: On Tuesday, July 12, 2016, Supt.
