With the start of schools and people out walking one wonders if there is any coordinated effort to inventory standing water problems in town and elmininate them. This puddle comes with every rain. But there are chronic and long last standing water sites on school campuses, in front of health facilities, within the sidewalk systems, in front of businesses, along roadways - and that list is just with Columbia. To correct them all would like cost less than society's cost of caring for the the first child born with microcephaly. Oddly, "progress" in the form of paving and pouring concrete is one of the biggest double whammies society is paying - first for pourly drained pavement and concrete, and secondly for the risk of mosquito bites and the diseases borne by them. -EW Comments? | Click here to share, print, or bookmark this photo.
