It was Thursday, October 4, 2007, eight-and-one-half years ago. Despite his own health problems, Dr. Phil Aaron led a big component of the large group which walked from the campus of Lindsey Wilson College to the Public Square in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Dr Phil Aaron,then Medical Director of the Dr. Phil Aaron Medical Center, shut down his office so he and all employees could participate in this program. It was a typical gesture, and this photo of the man with the Santa Claus look, who usually had a twinkle in his eye, gave a wave to the crowd, which responded with love for celebrity figure he was. The photo drew accolades then. Today, it seems prescient of the sad word received last evening, August 8, 2016, when Dr. Phil Aaron, 70, died at Kindred Hospital in Louisville, KY, at 7:36pmET after several months of hospitalization. Epicurean Kentuckian: Watermelon like they sell in Russell Co. 2016-08-08 - The Fruit Market, 2400 S Hwy 127, Russell Springs, KY 42642 - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com (c). One might first guess this watermelon came from Swan Pond Bottom, the section below Wolf Creek Dam which used to be the watermelon capitol of Kentucky. But Joe Branscum, proprietor of The Fruit Market, said that this one is a bit brought on - it was grown in Allen County, KY. At 100 pounds, it will provide watermelon for a mighty big family reunion. The fame which prompted a very excity visit was word spread by a trusted foodie, who pines from the fabulous sandwiches and by-the-pound salad bar at the Fruit Market. It was past closing time when this photo was made, but a sandwich was cut to order. It was up there with the best. Will seek further advice from this tipster.
