Anyone able to completely identify family and pet?

We can tell you that the photo was taken around 1954. That much is known. What the owner of the photo is hoping is that someone will know the names of the mother and dad, the names of the five boys, and what their wonder dog who posed so grandly for the photo was named. Supt. Alan W. Reed on first day of school at ACPC

Supt. Alan Reed had his photo taken through the ACPC Rockets photo cutout on opening day for students at Adair County Primary Center. The cutout stood in front of the historic ACPC bell - which once sounded for the start of school at the old Columbia Graded & High School - this morning, as a prop for parents and guardians who wanted a memento of the day.

The giant osage orange felled in a wind storm was being removed this morning, Thu 11 Aug 2016. The trees are one of the most fascinating in American forests. For some wonderful nuggets of inforamation, see, Wikipedia: Maclura_pomifera such tells of one important use - the wood makes excellent bows.
