KY Afield Outdoors: Deer season kicks off Sept 3 2016-08-11 - Photo by Lee McClellan. The 136-day Kentucky archery deer season kicks off Saturday, Sept. 3. The season looks similar to the past several in which Kentucky deer hunters racked up a string of record harvests. Hunters in the state harvested more than 155,000 deer last season, establishing a new record.
