Campbellsville Middle School seventh-grade science students recently performed a science experiment with gummy bears. Students in Steven Gumm's class placed gummy bears in several different liquids to see what will happen. After making a hypothesis for how the gummy bears will interact with the nine liquids, students performed their experiment. Students placed gummy bears in water, salt water, sugar water, baking soda water, laundry soap water, vinegar, cola, Sprite and vegetable oil. The gummy bears were left in the liquids for two days, and then students studied the changes they could see in the candy. Our area's locally grown - in Russell County - Kentucky Commissioner of Tourism Kristen Branscum is the speaking today at the Governor's luncheon for tourism, explains the the 2015 Tourism Revenues in Kentucky, $13.7 BILLION, which, to put in proper perspective that the Agriculture Department gave this morning as a $6 Billion Agriculture industry in Kentucky. The Tourism Commission is marketing Kentucky tourism as "The front porch of the South" for vacations. I agree, especially the water attractions at Lake Cumberland, Dale Hollow, Barren River and Green River Lake. Adair County sits right in the middle, perfectly positioned. - Mike Stephens.
