So starting school has been big this season for our family -- how on earth has time passed so quickly that two little girl granddaughters are ready for this when it seems just a heartbeat ago they came into our lives? They came like comets just eight months apart after so many years we thought we'd be parents and grandparents to boys only, and we were just great with that. And then came Matilda and Hailey, explosions of happiness! A couple of weeks ago I shared Tillie's first day with readers and this week Hailey started her school journey. In this photo Hailey, the youngest, was practicing the drill. She lined her Barbies up and said, "Ok, it's the first day of school and you need to know the rules. No talking. Stay in line. And..." And I was so enamored I forget the rest of the rules, but you'd better believe they were serious. Both cousins are taking to school with seriousness and already starting to make new friends. Columbia Masonic Lodge donates bikes for attendance prizes

Columbia Masonic Lodge No. 96 members Robert Flowers and Paul Smith with Taylor Morrison's class at Adair County Primary Center. Flowers and Smith delivered six bikes to the school today, on behalf of the Lodge, to be given to three boys and three girls that finish the year with perfect attendance. - Wes Feese

Adair County Primary Center parent makes own shade

"As I wait in the sweltering heat in front of the Adair Primary Center, I was thinking we who have to line up in our cars for so long waste a good amount of fuel each day when it's this warm outside. Most often I turn off my vehicle until I can't stand the heat any longer. I was contemplating how my former home State of CA would surely ban this plan due to emmision laws. As I looked into my mirror I see two cars behind me a creative concept of obtaining some shade!" - Jennifer Parker
