From the Sumac entry in Wikipedia the species would seem to have more value than just standing around being pretty. That article suggests various spice, tea, and even medicinal uses for Sumac - but there are some varieties which are toxic in part. Sumac expert Billy Joe Fudge also touts the plant for its landscape qualities. Day before yesterday, he was playing around with one of his backhoes and dug up his own present, a massive, interesting shaped stone which may have been, but could easily be weaponized. He says it was worth the effort just for the entertainment the operation gave to Lu, the Wonder Dog. It's for sale: $1,000, but buyers have to load it themselves. Foster Children 1 of 5 music groups at Green River Fall Festival 2016-09-08 - Homeplace on Green River, 5807 Old Columbia Road, Campbellsville, KY - Photo by George Kolbenschlag. The Foster Children group is one of five music groups that will be performing throughout the day at Saturday's Homeplace on Green River Fall Heritage Festival. They will play at 11amCT/12amET. The Festival runs from 10am-3pmCT/9am-4pmET, and includes a variety of family activities including hay and mule wagon rides, a hay maze, colonial reenactors, lots of animals to see and pet and lots of opportunities for outdoor fun including five miles of trails that traverse woodlands, wetlands, streams and the banks of the Green River. There's also lots of food, art and crafts vendors and a chance to meet Allegiance. The bald eagle and her friends will be performing twice on Saturday. Homeplace is located between Columbia and Campbellsville on state highway 55. The address is 5807 New Columbia Road, Campbellsville 42718.
