CES students learn bicycle safety

2016-09-17 - Campbellsville Elementary School, 315 Roberts Road (campus), Campbellsville, KY - Photo by Calen McKinney, Public Information Officer, Campbellsville Independent Schools (CIS).
Campbellsville Elementary School students recently learned how to ride their bicycles safely. Doug Beckhart, a bicycle safety educator with Kosair Children's Hospital, came to CES on Monday, September 12, 2016, to show third-grade students the proper way to ride a bicycle. Beckhart told students they should always wear a helmet while riding a bicycle, no matter how old they are. He also told them the proper way to signal while turning, how to cross railroad tracks and to always be careful and avoid hitting others. Students rode through an obstacle course to test their skills, and, if they didn't follow the proper rules, they were sent to Bike Jail. But after doing a few jumping jacks, students were able to ride with their classmates once again. Photo: CES third-grader Malikiah Spurling drives his bike.
