Major restoration at Homeplace on Green River completed

A major restoration project at Homeplace on Green River was completed this past week with the replacement of badly deteriorated siding on Homeplace's historic bank barn. The barn, built about 1860, is the signature building at Homeplace. The project, done by Eddie Cowherd Barn Construction, has been waiting funding for several years. Cowherd is also replacing damaged flooring in the building. - George Kolbenschlag

Siding is replaced on Historic Bank Barn at HGR

After years of deterioration, what was left of the old siding at Homeplace on Green River's historic bank barn was replaced this past week in a major step in the on-going restoration of the building. The barn, built around 1860, is one of several buildings and structures being restored at the farm. Homeplace has been named Kentucky's Outdoor Classroom and its purpose is to help preserve Kentucky's rural heritage by offering educational opportunities and family activities for all ages. - George Kolbenschlag

Old siding removed on Bank Barn at Homeplace on Green River

Old siding has been removed and replaced on the 1860s barn at Homeplace on Green River. This shows the one side of the barn with the old wood removed in preparation for the new siding which has been installed this past week. Homeplace is a joint effort of Adair, Green and Taylor counties and is dependent almost entirely on volunteers. - George Kolbenschlag
