Dr. Gerald Chafin, Associate Professor of Music and Conductor of the Lindsey Wilson Singers, received a proclamation from Kentucky Governor Matthew Bevin stating that the Lindsey Wilson Singers will be the official Kentucky Delegates at the 2016 National Festival of the States in Oahu, Hawaii commemorating the attack on Pearl Harbor. The festival will take place next month. This delightful little flower - if our ID is correct - is pretty and useful, at least according to wikipedia.org/wiki/Impatiens_capensis. The article says it the plants leaves and stems render an ointment useful in treating poison ivy rashes. It lists other names: Impatiens, and touch-me-nots. According to the article, the orange jewelweed is common.
