Court night moon over Historic Adair County Courthouse

The Squarecrows were settled for another night, the Crosses on the Square shone brightly, and an appropriate October Fiscal Court night moon added additional illumination on the Square, Tuesday evening, 11 October 2016. The Court was blessed with a fast paced, mostly productive session, which as predicted almost to the second by Adair County CJE Mike Stephens before it began, was over in 38 minutes - maybe a record for a regular session. (Update: Court Recorder Gale Cowan says the official time is 37 minutes) - EW

At least it appears to be the entrance to a great school. One would think some extraordinary minds were kickstarted by some exceptionally dedicated teachers here - and that the big benefit might have been simple life lessons which did more to prepare the scholars than anything in their lives. A smoke free Adair County was presented at the Columbia Adair Chamber of Commerce October meeting by ACHS seniors Michaela Walker, left, and Makayla Smith at right. Jelaine Harlow, center, is the Health Educator leading the effort for improved health in the Lake Cumberland District Health Department. The students told the audience, "It's the smoke, not the smoker", as they presented statistics to back up their desire, and that of a majority of Adair Countians, to make the public smoke free.
