Kentucky Deer Herd is beautiful; F&W wants to keep it healthy 2016-11-01 - Photo from Kentucky Fish & Wildlife. Kentucky's White-tailed Deer Herd is one of the Commonwealth's great wildlife assets, and the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife wants to keep it that way. Recently, bovine tuberculosis, an infectious disease which primarily affects cattle, has been detected in Kentucky's deer population. Wildlife officials in Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio recently launched a joint monitoring effort for the disease after an infected deer was discovered in southeastern Indiana. A new ACSO Sheriff's Prowler securely blocked the entrance to the Public Square and protected High Sheriff Harrison Moss who was handing out Kool-Aid packs to trick or treaters as fast as he could. He, too was too busy to count, but offered the opinion that this night had been the most successful yet.
