One of Columbia's great cats has been managing greeter functions at the Circle R Restaurant. It is young, sleek, and poised with the haughty aloofness which cats automatically attain after two meals. This cat appears not to have missed any. Almost everyone who attends the restaurant wants to talk to it, when it deigns to do so. And most mention something about wanting to take it home, if is, indeed, available. The Columbia Planning & Zoning Commission approved a zoning change for the lot at the left to High Density Residential from Highway Oriented Commercial, to accommodate the construction of an eight unit, 2 bedroom, 1 bath apartment building. Columbia businessman Jonathan Begley, who will own the structure, said that a second identical building is planned for the future.
