Sundog viewed from Bomar Heights - My grandfather William David "Bill Doc" Marcum was among the old timers who thought Sundogs predicted some significant weather coming on. When I was little, observing sunsets and sky signs with Grandad as my tutor, I thought they only happened over Sulphur Well, KY. Actually these bright spots in the sky happen as sunlight passes through ice crystals in Cirrus clouds. They can be seen anywhere in the world and are visible mostly when the sun is low in the sky.
