Epicurean Kentuckian: Sticking close to roots: Pot roast

2016-12-09 - A & M Farmers Market Chop House Restaurant, 7393 Campbellsville Road, Columbia, KY 270-805-8711. Hours: 5:30am-3pm Monday through Friday; Saturdays 5amCT til 1pmCT - Photo CM photo(c) .
There seems to be a trend toward traditional fare in Adair County restaurants. Old fashioned pot roast, the kind your mother made enough for Sunday dinner, good for warmed over afternoon snacks and a few more meals, showed up on the menu at Coburg recently. It was excellent, especially considering that it was twice the serving, at half the price, and twice as good as a skimpy dinner entree as a famous Kentucky restaurant 65 miles from Columbia served recently. And the Coburg pot roast had twice the taste as well. - EW

ACEA Teacher of the Month Mrs. Denesa McCann

2016-12-09 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Deb Waddell.
Introducing the Adair County Education Association's Teacher of the Month Mrs. Denesa McCann. Denesa teaches 3rd grade math at Adair County Elementary. She is a 24 year master teacher and graduate of Lindsey Wilson College and Western Kentucky University. ACEA is proud to recognize and honor her. We appreciate the dedication Denesa has for both teaching and her students and the Adair County school system. A recent memorable moment from Mrs. McCann-"We recently took the Map Math test and the students' scores went up. I was so proud and happy for them. Later I found a note that one of my students had left on my desk stating, "I hope you are proud of us!" I was very proud of them and their accomplishments!" Congratulations, Mrs. Denesa McCann!
