While going through my computer picture album I came across these pictures that reminded me of the dry year of 2008. I am now 83 years old and that was the driest year I’ve ever seen. Many crops was pretty much a failure. Many if not most farm ponds completely dried. Here is a closeup of my Granddaughter Kyndal Caldwell measuring the opening in the bottom of one of my ponds. Another Adair County wonderful best kept secret is out of the bag with improved accessibility: The just paved Rooks-Denton Road, above, at the Red-railed Bridge over Butler Creek. Rooks-Denton Road stretches from Sano Road to Allen Schoolhouse Road. It's all just about as picturesque as this. The meandering trail is almost two miles - 1.928 to be exact - of pristine rural beauty.
