Town Horses after stormy night Sat 17 Dec 2016

Hurt Street shortcut users saw a peaceful scene on a running, but calm Town Creek Sunday morning, as the town horses on Roseland Plantation visited the stream. But only 10 hours earlier, the stream had been raging, so much so that the culvert at the bottom of Jamestown Hill, by Lynn's Service Center - the red-roofed building, mid left in frame - could not handle the flow, and water flood Jamestown Street, resulting in a midnight closure for a brief period, according to Ofc. Johnny Dial, who was on duty during the storm. - EW

Many of the Christmas Postcard Village Displays were temporarily down following the windstorm just before midnight Saturday, December 17, 2016. This photo was taken mid morning, Sunday. We'll post when we get news that the cards are all back up. They are quite an attraction for the continuing Christmas in Columbia. - EW
