2017-01-03 - Campbellsville Elementary School, 315 Roberts Road, Campbellsville, KY - Photo by Calen McKinney, Public Information Officer, Campbellsville Independent Schools (CIS).
Campbellsville Elementary School kindergartener Aubreigh Knifley, above, enjoys her edible Christmas tree. Campbellsville Elementary School students recently made edible Christmas trees. Students in Kimberly Clark's, Lisa Wiseman's, Leanna Cundiff's and Nikki Price's kindergarten classes are learning about shapes. To help them learn the shape of a 3D cone, students were given an ice cream cone to start their edible tree. After adding icing, Skittles, M&Ms, chocolate chips and sprinkles, students had made their very own trees. Then, they enjoyed them as a snack. - Calen McKinney

Happy New Year fare on the Watson's table

2017-01-02 - Harrodsburg, KY - Photo Mike Watson.
"Our New Year bill-of-fare 2017 included one addition to the usual cabbage -- this year fried with onions -- black-eye-peas, cornbread, and hog jowl; fried Adair County sweet potatoes, some sliced the traditional length-wise and some sliced the modern cross-the-grain way. All were topped as needed with home-made tomato ketchup, ground red pepper, and all the necessary niceties of life. Then a first-pass plate before things got smeared and messy. Happy New Year from the Watsons!"
