Jesslyn McCandless starts new radio show on CU station

Campbellsville University’s campus radio station, 88.7 The Tiger, will debut a new local show Monday, Feb. 6 at 7 a.m. Student Jesslyn McCandless will begin airing her “Jess in the Morning” show weekdays from 7 a.m. until 9 a.m. McCandless is a junior from Elizabethtown, Ky. pursuing a social work major and a broadcasting minor. She is vice president of the Student Government Association as well as Campbellsville University’s 2016 Homecoming queen. Her new morning show will cover city and campus updates, weather reports and sports. McCandles is the daughter of Kerry McCandles of Elizabethtown, Ky. -- Joshua Williams

FFA attends Freshman Leadership conference

Several Freshmen FFA members attended the 2nd annual Lake Cumberland Region Freshman Leadership conference at Russell County High School on January 19th, 2017. The event was conducted by the regional FFA officers and attended by freshmen FFA leaders from eight counties. Students were taught leadership skills, networking, team building and public speaking.

Attending from Adair County were: Front row- Elizabeth Stamper, Madelyn Harmon, Emily Farmer, Brianna Dale, Trevor Page, Autumn Bailey. Back Row- Ty Cheatham, Jeanene Pike, Alexia Feese, Walter Baker, Hunter Crowe, Walker Karnes, Shelby Jones and Olivia Smith.

KY Afield Outdoors: Good fishing in February

Marcy Anderson, Southeastern Fisheries District biologist for the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, holds a huge female largemouth bass captured and released in late February from Wood Creek Lake a few years ago. February fishing can produce the biggest largemouth bass, muskellunge or smallmouth bass of the year for anglers not afraid to brave the elements.
