Campbellsville Elementary School recently named its Soaring Eagles for the week of Jan. 23. They are kindergarteners Gavin Williams, Ahryan Wilson, Mason Edwards and Delaney Staton; first-graders Keiava Thompson, Nadia Taylor, Frehley Whitlow, Bryant Mayo and Destini Gholston; second-graders Kallie Taylor, Analeigh Foster, Gavin Martin and Reece Swafford; and third-graders Kailei Hernandez, Maylee Wilds, Jace Cox and Kendall Bright.

Extraordinary soup is a great treat on a cold winter day. This creamy, hearty kale, carrot, tortellini and sausage soup is seen on many menus in Kentucky, but it was greeted enthusiastically and enjoyed by the discriminating diners at A & M Farmers Market Chop House Restaurant - at Coburg, KY, Thursday, January 26, 2017.

Conclusive proof Maxie Oakes right; ex-Sheriff Firquin not

The Cumberland River is a Big River -One of the longest running political issues in the Adair County Historic Courthouse, was: Is the Cumberland River a Big River. Maxey Oakes, who was a volunteer elevator operator at the courthouse, maintained that it was. Then Sheriff Jimmy Firquin would argue that he had seen it, and that it was not a Big River. Today, no one in their right mind, not even the late Dr. Billy Neat, could argue that it is not. The river was well out of its banks in this photo taken Friday, January 27, 2017, irrefutable evidence that Maxey Oakes was right, all along.
