On a springlike February day, there it was - a compelling piece of art, right there on the ground. Except for the lighting, it was hardly seasonal at all, one of the compelling reasons for not only tolerating moss, but encouraging it's presence. - EW

'Birds of Kentucky' - Super Piper Cub over Schickel Park

Alan Reed helped identify this plane which made an appearance over the Joseph Schickel Park in Burkesville, KY, recently: "The airplane in question appears to be a Piper Super Cub. Those are designed for short take off and landing distances and grass airstrips and are often used for power line inspection. Thanks to Chris and Dale Janes for assistance in deciphering the "N" number." - ALAN W. REED
