Larry Smith writes: "Simpson County Courthouse in Franklin, KY. I believe this courthouse was designed by the same man who designed the Adair County Courthouse. On the way back from Nashville yesterday I stopped to tour the historic city which sits on the Tennessee state line." According to the authority, Mike Watson, the Adair County Courthouse, which he writes about in this article: Historic Adair County Courthouse: Now 130 years old, was designed by the McDonald Bros., a Louisville Architectural Firm, and was built by two local men, William Henry Hudson and Columbus Stone. Surplus County property awarded to high bidders at the Friday, February 24, 2017 Special Called Meeting of the Adair County Fiscal Court totaled $11,119.81. The court voted not to sell a blacktop roller for the high bid of $351 from Sherman Burton, after the presiding officer, Billy Dean Coffey, recommended that it not be sold. There were no bids for 14 surplus Tvs and an office chair. Magistrate Coffey and Magistrate Daryl Flatt voted against the sale o the Athley Force Feed Loader to Sherman Burton for $501, but were outvoted, 4-2 to sell. Magistrate Coffey also voted, alone, against the sale of the New Holland Tractor to Eugene Cowan for $5,860.
