It's now Old Liberty Community Church, but as best we can determine. "Old Liberty Baptist Church was located near modern day Hwy 92 between Montpelier to the west and Hales Highway / Hwy 379 to the east, hard by the banks of Liberty Creek, a branch of Runnels Creek. Across the fields and the creek, the church house was a third of a mile or less from the Perryman home place." A reader notes: "Rev. Perryman never pastored the United Baptist, later known as (Old) Liberty Church. That was church of his boyhood and it was there he professed his faith and a few years later he was ordained there, but the only times he spoke at United/Liberty -- which he always considered his home church -- was his nearly annual trips back to Russell County until his mother passed in 1893, and after that, more infrequently but still he came back, particularly around 4th of July, whenever he could. (Until around 1898, he was in the northern Kentucky/Cincinnati area; after that, he pastored, in order, at Middlesboro, Paducah, Knoxville, and Norfolk before returning to Kentucky to shepherd Central Baptist in Winchester for what proved to be the last year of his life.)" Sunday morning, March 12, 2017, one would hardly have realized that this peaceful scene was the site of a tragedy, on the Saturday before when viewed from Thompson-Harvey Road, above, except for police scene yellow tape on the Greensburg Street frontage, left in the photo. A 45-year-old Adair County woman, Alesha Bryant Morrison, was pronounced dead at the scene here on Saturday, March 11, 2017. According to the Kentucky State Police, 52-year-old Samuel Edwards, of Columbia, was operating a northbound 2002 KIA on KY 61 when he lost control of the vehicle and left the shoulder of the roadway, and, the report said, "The vehicle then began to flip, striking the roadway multiple times before striking a tree and coming to final rest in a pond. Edwards and a passenger, 45-year-old Alesha Morrison, of Columbia, were ejected from the vehicle. Morrison was pronounced dead at the scene by the Adair County Coroner. Edwards was airlifted to UK Medical Center and is listed in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing."
