GSA Troop #896 still celebrating 105th birthday of GSUSA
2017-03-23 - Adair County Food Pantry, 203 S Monroe Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Annita Barnetta. Girl Scout Troop #896 is still celebrating the 105th birthday of GSUSA. Our latest adventure was visiting the Adair County Food Pantry where the girls made a donation of over 100 non-perishable food items. While there we learned that the food pantry helps to feed approximately 300 families in Adair County every month. Pictured in no particular order is Laramie Baldwin, Mariah Kelsay, Pixie Dial, Courtney Henson, McKinlee Stone, Kantlee Harvey, Brayleigh Hargrove, Braylynn Hargrove, Malloree Kimbler, Halie Jeffries, Keitha Lee, Kelsey Wiley, Katie Ploss, and tagalong Maylee Stone. It sure feels good helping other people!! -

This old house prompted memories for James Murrell
2017-03-23 - southern Glens Fork, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, columbiamagazine.com. James Murrell wrote in response to an earlier photo of this house: "Growing up we lived below this farm next to the main road, next door to Mrs. Artie Ballinger and her son Ralph who was blind and an accomplished piano player; he loved to entertain us children.
I do not remember who lived in the house back in early 60's but remember going to play with children who lived there and gathered hickory nuts that grew behind the house." --James Murrell

Green County, KY - Deerfield. By the dozens
2017-03-23 - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com photo(c). Wish there had been time to video these deer. They scampered off with a dozen white tails in a choreographed exodus from the fence, then paused near a woodland edge and watched as they 'got their picture took.' The beautiful sight along the Buckner Hill area two miles or so south of the Greensburg side crest. - EW. Photo Wed 22 March 2017.

The Perfect Pasture Cedar: KY 619 in Russell Co., KY
2017-03-23 - KY 619, Russell County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com photo(c). Pasture Perfect Cedar tree near Bernard Way on KY 619, in Russell County, KY, well within Jim's 2 mile radius of Montpelier, Adair and Russell Counties, in the great state of Kentucky. This tree looks to have a hundred-year-old base and wide reach on the bottom of the branches. A wind storm somewhere over the past century may have taken off the top and allowed it to grow a new top, giving it a perfect triangle shape, the shape of artist's renderings.
