It may be Adair County's most iconic rural scene, the famed "Last Chance Grocery, Chance, KY." Once a fine dining place, where one could get bologna or cheese sandwiches, a soft drink or "dope," and a Moon Pie. Today, those heavenly comestibles are available, but only by packing a picnic for a delightful day trip, or conjuring it up in your mind. If you're from the 50's, the latter is inevitable. the scene is as much of an "Eat" trigger as a frothy cherry topped milkshake on the menu board of a fast food restaurant. We enjoyed an imaginary pickle dog & four square cracker sandwich, "fixed up" with hot sauce, a Double Cola, and a Moon Pie that way on Sunday, April 2, 2017, a day of vast Easter promise, when this photo was taken. CES Guidance Counselor Sonya Orberson led Campbellsville/Taylor County Head Start students through the recently renovated school building. Orberson told the students what they can expect when attending school at CES, along with some of the rules put in place to keep students safe and in a good learning environment. Head start students saw the cafeteria, gym, classrooms and much more.
