One of, maybe the greatest champions of the clean roadsides is Seventh District Magistrate Terry Hadley, does volunteer roadside litter pickup in his district. Roadside cleanup was a major topic of the Tuesday, April 11, 2016 regular meeting of the court. The county's PRIDE roadside cleanup date is set for Saturday, April 29, 2017. More details will be forthcoming from the office of Adair County Judge Executive Michael Stephens later. The court heard from Deputy CJE Andrea Waggener on plans for the cleanup and from the Adair County Solid Waste Committee Member Vicky Pike. A free tipping day, prompted Magistrate Terry Hadley and approved on a motion by Magistrate Sammy Baker (3) with a second by Harold Burton (1) to authorized free tipping in early May, 2017, was also approved. - EW

Spotted this new-to-us sign beside one of Casey County's primary destination sites, the Galilean Ministries' Bread of Life Cafe. The new addition announcement follows the Bread of Life's establishment, in 1997, by 20 years. At this point, only the sign is up. Site work is yet to be started. - EW. Photo Wed 12 Apr 2017.

Adair County Fiscal Court Big Picture: Million watt smile

2017-04-13 - Basement, Adair Annex, 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, Columbiamagazine.com.
Whether if things are going well or not - Adair County 6th District Magistrate Greg Caldwell can be depended on to brighten the day. Things were going well for him Tuesday evening at the 11 Apr 2017 regular session of Fiscal Court. All the measures he supported were passed, and he gave a "Way" report on a "No Way" situation in his district: He reported that improvements to Bunnell Road, heretofore hangfire because Darrell Bunnell's farm, for which taxes are paid in Adair County, is accessed through Taylor County. Magistrate Caldwell worked with Taylor County Judge Eddie Rogers on an interlocal agreement which will allow the Adair County Road Department to improve the very important farm-to-Farmers Market on the Square-and other farmers market venues, solving a no-man's-land dilemma for a pioneering farm operation. Mr. Bunnell's Coview Farm, is located in the Coburg area of Adair County. The court authorized CJE Mike Stephens to sign paperwork for bringing all of Bunnell Road to be under Adair County maintenance as soon as Taylor County Fiscal authorizes. All magistrates voted for the measure. - EW
